Each and every year in the United States alone, it is estimated that 4000 to 8000 babies are born with idiopathic clubfoot, a foot deformity that effects otherwise healthy babies. For decades the long-standing medical remedy has been surgery. But there is a better way. Dr. John Herzenberg is head of pediatric orthopedics at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore where every single Friday is Clubfoot Clinic and where almost every child is treated with a non-surgical technique referred to as the Ponseti Strategy.

Like his mom, Sam was born with the foot deformity identified as clubfoot. But right after her encounter with painful surgery as a child, Allison decided to bring Sam to pediatric orthopedic specialist Dr. Matthew Dobbs for non-surgical treatment known as the Ponseti Strategy. Right after weeks of casting and serial bracing until practically age four, Sam is "graduating" from the Clubfoot Clinic at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
